Updating from program version 12.8:
Program version 12.8a can be installed over version 12.8, but only after backing up user information as described below. Unfortunately, the Installshield setup program of SatPC32 V.12.8a deletes all program data of V. 12.8. Your personal settings in 12.8 will be lost. The program 'DataBackup.Exe' in this folder allows you to first save your settings via mouse click and then to restore them after the installation of V.12.8a is finished.
Run 'DataBackup.Exe' before you start the 12.8a setup program. To start the program double click on the filename. Then click on 'SaveData'. That will copy all sub folders and files from the datafolder 'SatPC32' into the folder 'SatPC32_DataBackup'. The paths of both folders are displayed in the program window.
Then start the 12.8a setup program and follow the instructions. From the setup options select 'Typical'.
After the installation is finished start 'DataBackup' again and click on 'RestoreData'. A dialog window will show up saying that a data folder'SatPC32' exists. You will be asked whether the files in this folder are to be replaced by the files from the SatPC32_DataBackup folder. Click 'Yes to All'.
Then restart SatPC32.
Updating from program version 12.7 and older:
These versions stored program data in the SatPC32 program folder and its sub folders. Beginning with version 12.8 SatPC32 stores program application data in a sub folder 'SatPC32' of the Windows system folder for application data (see above).
Therefore don't install V.12.8a over an older installation! That would leave all previous data files inthe SatPC32 program folder and its sub folders. If you want to keep an old installation make a backup copy of the entire SatPC32 program folder before you uninstall the previous version. Rename the copy 'SatPC32_127' or similar. In this folder you can run the old programs and look for your previous program configuration if necessary.
Then uninstall the previous version. The Windows uninstaller will possibly leave some files and sub folders in the SatPC32 program folder. Remove these files and sub folders with the Windows Explorer or another file
manager.
Then start the new setup program and follow the instructions. You will have to manually restore any configuration files from program version 12.7 and older.
